HELPING TO PROTECT THOSE WHO PROTECT US

Bank the Blue is a non-profit organization that provides essential resources, mental health support and access to legal services for Cook County law enforcement officers so they can better serve and protect our communities.

It also creates and sponsors programs aimed at mending fractured relationships between police officers and citizens. Many of our police officers are struggling and their local departments alone cannot meet their extraordinary needs.

Bank the Blue seeks to fill the void providing resources and support the local departments cannot and build partnerships between police and citizens which will make our communities safer. We also want to raise awareness about the unique and challenging struggles police officers face, and the daily financial and emotional sacrifices that they make.

We hope by providing support services and resources that officers need, and by helping to strengthen relationships with the communities they serve, the result will be greater police responsiveness and accountability and an increased willingness of citizens to work together with police. The best way to decrease crime is when police and law- abiding citizens work in partnership with each other. Chicago leads the nation in murders and shooting. Now more than ever, we need healthy and engaged police officers who have the respect and trust of the citizens they serve.

We know many citizens and the business community want to support the police and “Bank the Blue” gives them a simple and impactful way to do so through donations, sponsorships and crowd-funded campaigns.

Bank the Blue was launched by a group of Chicago businesses and attorneys with close ties to the Cook County law enforcement community. They put together a diverse and distinguished Board of Directors of mental health and law enforcement experts, and business and community leaders. Bank the Blue aims to become a national model for supporting police officers, rebuilding trust with citizens and making communities safer.
