“Bank the Blue safeguards all officers’ privacy and confidentiality at all times.”

Bank the Blue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides funding and access for mental health services for Illinois law enforcement officers dealing with multiple psychosocial stressors both on and off the job. According to mental health experts, the rate for post-traumatic stress disorder and depression among police officers is five times higher than that of the civilian population and often goes untreated. Local departments alone are unable to provide the mental health wellness services that their officers so desperately need.

Bank The Blue was launched in March 2020 by a group of Chicago business professionals with close ties to the law enforcement community. Bank The Blue is governed by a diverse and distinguished board of law enforcement, business and community leaders.

HOW WE HELP

Our fundraising efforts are implemented in partnership with retired police officer training programs and certified, culturally competent clinicians who specialize in treatments oriented for the unique needs of law enforcement officers.

In partnership with CopLine, Bank The Blue funds training programs designed to provide retired police officers with active listening skills to assist fellow officers in distress. Retired police officers are also trained as Bank The Blue ambassadors who make roll call visits at police departments across Illinois.

Bank the Blue utilizes Copline trainings to provide retired Illinois law enforcement officers with active listening skills to assist officers in distress.

Bank the Blue trains retired Illinois police officers to act as its Ambassadors to visit local departments. The Bank the Blue Ambassadors spread awareness to the confidential resources available to officers surrounding their mental wellness.

Our fundraising efforts provide law enforcement officers across Illinois with direct and immediate access to culturally competent, certified clinicians who specialize in LEO trauma therapy.

Bank The Blue collaborates with local businesses and organizations throughout the year to host fundraising events from which proceeds are donated towards our mission. Our annual Gala – held every October in Chicago – raises funds and awareness for our mission as well.

Retired law enforcement officers are trained as Bank The Blue ambassadors who make roll call visits to police departments across Illinois. These roll call visits – made by fellow officers who share experiential knowledge with each other – raise awareness about the mental health wellness resources available to active Illinois police officers.

Through police department roll call visits and community fundraising events, Bank The Blue aims to raise awareness and end the stigma about seeking mental health wellness services.

WAYS TO HELP

Bank the Blue is counting on the support of generous donors to join us in ensuring our Officers have access to the services they desperately need. Contributions to Bank the Blue are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Bank the Blue’s ambassador program consists of retired police officer representatives who have been locally trained to make roll call visits to police departments across Illinois.

All members of Bank the Blue’s ambassador team are retired law enforcement officers who have been vetted and locally trained by a certified Bank The Blue clinician to make these roll call visits. Roll call visits by Bank The Blue representatives raise awareness among active duty Illinois police officers that help is only a call away. For a police officer in crisis, the support gained from a fellow officer with shared experiential knowledge has been proven to be highly effective.

In partnership with CopLine, Bank The Blue will fly selected retired Illinois police officers out to an upcoming training location of their choice to receive world-class certified active listener training to effectively engage with callers in crisis. Active listener training involves 40 hours of mandatory training provided by mental health professionals with expertise in law enforcement stressors as well as hotline personnel who are familiar with hotline methodology

Your donation helps support our mission to provide mental health support and resources to Cook County Law Enforcement Officers. Contributions to Bank The Blue are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
