Operation BackUp

Due to the overwhelming positive response and collective desire to support Operation Backup, we’ve teamed up to help make this program an ongoing initiative. As you may know, this May the Chicago Police Department went into an operational posture where ALL days off will be cancelled, and the men and women of the CPD will be working 12 hour shifts into June. This type of “operational tempo” is something generally only utilized in emergency situations (tornados, floods, etc) and is unprecedented in CPD history. This schedule was implemented with minimum notice to the officers, and has disrupted their normal family routines.

As retired members of the CPD, the Vigilant Strategies & Solutions team and Bank The Blue have joined forces to mobilize the CPD retiree family in Chicago along with other residents and businesses in an effort to come together and truly uplift and support our officers in these challenging times.

Please let us know how you may like to get involved.

Thank you Chicago Police officers for your dedication, bravery and service to the Chicago community. It is our privilege and honor to come together to lend a hand to you and your families. Please complete this form to share with us how we can best serve you.

As an additional resource, this Operation: Backup Group on Facebook was made to bring together Chicago Police retirees with active officers and their families in need. We are welcoming only active or retired LEOs into this group; please consider joining the supportive effort via the Facebook Group.

Thank you for your interest in supporting Chicago Police Officers!

You can help with errands, shopping, providing meals, watching the kids walk to school, etc. Another way to help is by delivering food and refreshments to officers whose assignments will preclude them from eating while they’re working. And with the temperatures in Chicago hitting high numbers, proper hydration is a critical issue – with many not having access to water during their 12 hour shifts.
